For the past 25 years he has coached players who competed at the highest levels of Davis- and Fed Cups, Southeast and Asian Games competition.
As Philippine National Coach, Martin's experience helped guide the Men's and Women's teams to multi-year Gold, Silver-, Bronze-Medal haul the last decade of the Southeast Asian and Asian Games; Martin served as a Davis Cup Captain (non-playing) for the Philippine team which included world-class ATP players Cecil Mamiit, Eric Taino and Subic's Patrick John Tierro that competed in Group One of the Asian Zone.
Subic News: Asian Youth Games
Martin is currently the mentor to Asia’s rising 17 year-old junior player Jurence Mendoza in Subic whose recent results included a runner-up finish at PCA Open (Men) in Manila with upset wins over Southeast Asia's top players and recently a silver-medalist at the Asian Youth Games in Nanjing, China.
MMTA is located at the Subic Bay International Tennis and Sports Center, a facility where he helped design and manage with Sison inside the Subic Bay Freepot Zone. Due to the center's location amid a natural environment, the center is a favorite venue of coaching seminars for the ITF and ATF governing bodies in cooperation with the Philippine Tennis Association where Martin serves as Training Facilitator.
Martin also provides tennis classes for local private and public schools' P.E. programs including the Brent International School of Subic where his better half Myra Misa teaches.
Junior Development Program
Misa Tennis Academy offers specially designed curriculum for developing juniors which aim to teach in fun and challenging manner while addressing the student's social and total development.
In line with the ITS System, Martin's approach is a practical step-by-step personalized instruction which is “child-centered” not subject centered where emphasis is on object lessons learned from the tennis experience that acquaint the young with realities of life.
This means that the stages of athletic training must be related to the stages of the youth's development - lessons where the child is given a positive experience which can be used as a spring-board to future activities. 'Athletes First': winning is secondary to the value of satisfaction gained from the player's self-improvement.
ITS MMTA is housed at the Subic Bay International Tennis Center in Subic Bay Freeport Zone, Philippines. The center boasts nine tennis courts (center court, 2 show courts, 4 covered courts, and 2 clay courts).
