Taifoe Captures Orange Bowl Title, Defeats Kozlov in All-American Final

December 15, 2013 ITS Staff: Plantation, Florida - Francis Tiafoe of College Park, Michigan defeated Stefan Kozlov of Pembroke Pines, Florida 7-6 (3), 0-6, 6-3 on Sunday to become the youngest boys' singles champion in the history of the Metropolitan Orange Bowl International, at 15.

 

In the first all-America Orange Bowl boys' final since 2004, it was the first time two 15-year-olds played each other in the singles final in the tournament's 67-year history. In the girls' final, Russia's Varvara Flink beat Serbia's Ivana Jorovic 6-1, 2-6, 6-4.

For the first time in nine years, the Orange Bowl International tournament saw an all-American boys’ final after Stefan Kozlov and Francis Tiafoe both took care of their semi-final opponents. Kozlov upset top seed and World No.1 Alexander Zverev of Germany with a 76(2) 60 victory placing him to his first Grade A final of his young ITF Junior career.
