Li Na Exits, Radwanska, Kvitova into Last 16; Djokovic, Murray Cruise; Hewitt Bow Out
June 27, 2014 ITS Staff Wimbledon, England - After kicking off the 2014 season with her second Grand Slam victory at the Australian Open, Li Na has suffered two consecutive early round defeats of a major tournament. The second-seed Li, who lost to France’s Kristina Mladenovic in the first round of the French Open, was upset by Barbora Zahlavova Strycova 7-6 (5), 7-6 (5) on Friday’s third round action at the Wimbledon Championships.
In the men’s Day 5, Novak Djokovic and defending champion Andy Murray both advanced to the round of 16s after posting convincing victories at the All England Tennis Club. The top-seeded 2011 champion overcame a nasty fall but still managed to cruise to a straight sets victory over France’s Gilles Simon 6-4 6-2 6-4. Murray, meanwhile, continued his strong play to defeat last week’s 's-Hertogenbosch ATP winner Roberto Bautista Agut 6-2 6-3 6-2.
On Sunday’s fourth round, Djokovic will take on Frenchman No.14 seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga who beat Taiwan’s Jimmy Wang 6-2 6-2 7-5. The No.4 Murray will face No.20 Kevin Anderson of South Africa winner over Italy’s No. 16 Fabio Fognini 4-6 6-4 2-6 6-2 6-1.
