May 16 2013: ITS Staff: The UCLA men's tennis team earned a spot in the NCAA Round of 16 for the 37th year in a row on Saturday afternoon, as the top-seeded Bruins posted a 4-0 victory over Drake in an NCAA Second Round match at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. Next up for UCLA (26-1) is a showdown with 16th-seeded Vanderbilt (18-10) on Thursday, May 16 at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex at the Atkins Tennis Center in Urbana-Champaign, Ill. That match is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. (CST).

 

The Virginia men's tennis team reached the round of 16 of the NCAA Tournament for the 10th consecutive year with a 4-0 second round victory over Minnesota Saturday at the Snyder Tennis Center. The Cavaliers took the early lead by winning the doubles point.  In singles, Styslinger quickly doubled the Cavalier advantage as he completed a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Froment at No. 4. The final two points were recorded by the two Virginia seniors playing their final match at the Snyder Tennis Center. Julen Uriguen posted a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 6 over Ramirez to make the score 3-0. Jenkins scored the decisive point with his 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 1 over Bonin.

 

The second-ranked Georgia men's tennis team advanced to the round of 16 of the NCAA Championships with a 4-0 win over Northwestern at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex Saturday. The third-seeded Bulldogs will face the No. 14 seed Oklahoma Thursday, May 16 at 10 a.m. ET in Champaign, Ill. Georgia is now 28-4 in the NCAA Tournament dating back to 2007, and this marks the Bulldogs' 10th straight trip to the round of 16.

 

No. 4 USC, the four-time defending national champion, won its 26th consecutive NCAA match with a 4-1 win over San Diego in a 2013 NCAA Men's Tennis Championships second round match on Saturday (May 11) at Marks Tennis Stadium. USC improved to 25-4 this year while San Diego, which defeated Alabama 4-3 in a grueling first-round match on Friday, finished the season at 18-10.

 

The #12 Pepperdine men’s tennis team is one of 16 teams left in the NCAA Tournament after blanking #20 LSU 4-0 at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center. Pepperdine’s (26-5) road to the championship began yesterday with a 4-0 win vs. UC Santa Barbara. The Waves left nothing to chance shutting out the Tigers 4-0 after LSU had edged #40 Stanford 4-2 in the first round.

 

The 11th-ranked and 12th-seeded Texas A&M men’s tennis team downed the 21st-ranked Texas Longhorns, 4-3. The Aggies advance to the Round of 16 to face Ohio State at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex in the Atkins Tennis Center in Urbana, Illinois on May 16. The Maroon and White improve to 19-12 on the season while the Longhorns fall to 17-9
